Nudge co-author Richard Thaler awarded the Nobel Prize for Economics

17 October 2017

Yale University Press are proud to be the first publisher of Nobel Laureate Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein’s influential Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth and Happiness.

Published in hardback in 2008, Nudge quickly became a phenomenon garnering considerable press coverage and book sales to match. In a piece for The Sunday Times written that year, the journalist Bryan Appleyard declared that ‘Nudging is the new politics’. That proved to be the case when a 'Nudge Unit' was established in 2010 under former UK prime minister David Cameron’s coalition government.
Richard Thaler is regarded as one of the founding fathers of behavioural economics, which explores how human psychology shapes economic decisions.
